If you were to look at Barbara Palvin’s resume, it would read: Victoria’s Secret supermodel, face of L’Oreal Paris, actress. cover girl, model for Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu and Chanel… The list goes on.

The supermodel is in Sydney to celebrate the unveiling of the world’s first virtual makeup simulator, the L’Oreal Paris Makeup Genius, an app that Palvin has used “countless times”, being one of the first in the world to start using it at Cannes last year. Makeup Genius enables you to test and try beauty products using your mobile phone or tablet as a virtual mirror. Using advanced technology, the app has been ten years in the making and is a true industry game changer – a portable personalised beauty advisor right in the palm of your hand.

We sat down with the bombshell on her recent visit to Australia to chat beauty-meets-technology, that L’Oreal contract and what her career highlights are.

What do you love about Australia?

The people are very friendly – that’s why I have so many Australian friends in New York, too.

Do you remember where you were when you got the call finding out about the L’Oreal contract?

I was in Hungary just walking down the street and I got the call and I was just like, deep breath, okay, okay, okay!

What three pieces of make up can’t you live without?

Lip balm, mascara and a good contour brush.

What is your favourite make up look?

I don’t really change it up, dark red lipstick and mascara – very simple, sometimes not even mascara!

You’ve had such an amazing career so far. What has been a career highlight for you?

I think I have three highlights and they’ve been from when I’ve stepped forward a little more each time. The first is when I did the Prada show. Signing with L’Oreal and then the Victoria’s Secret show.

What advice would you give to girls wanting to get their start in the world of fashion and modelling?

To be confident and go there and show the people that you are confident. Know that you are the best and that there’s no one else they could pick – they are not going to find a person better than you.

During her trip to Australia, Barbara had a press day with a lot of magazines to talk about the Make Up Genius App, here is the Cosmopolitan interview:

How do you think women will respond to the new Makeup genius app?

“I think that they’re going to love it. I responded with ‘oh my god!’ Because it is very useful; you can try new makeup without buying it first. It’s also great for photo shoots, we can try looks on first.”

What’s your favourite look from the app?

“The Maximal Eyes, and also a nice red lipstick.”

What are your favourite L’Oreal Paris products to use IRL?

“I love to use Elvive for the hair, and extra argan oil. Miss Manga for the lashes. And a nice Colour Riche for the lips.”

What’s the best makeup trick or tip that you’ve learnt on a shoot?

“I learned everything from the business because I started modelling very young. The most useful one is the blush. I think when you do a duck face, your true cheek bones come out.”

Check it out a short interview that Barbara gave to Herald Sun in Australia for today’s newspaper:

Victoria’s Secret angel Barbara Palvin says she will delay her move into acting to protect her privacy.
The Hungarian supermodel, who featured in Hollywood blockbuster Hercules last year, made her second trip to Australia for last night’s launch of the L’Oreal Make Up Genius app alongside Megan Gale in Sydney. “I start slowly, not sure if it’s now or in a year or two,” Palvin, 21 said.
“If I really get into it I’ll lose my privacy and I’m not ready for that. If it’s meant to be, it’s going to come to me.”
